The first stage of working together is the creative process. There are three key aspects we consider when designing your exterior spaces: how the design will improve the view, how it will improve your home and how it will improve your life. To achieve these, it's important that we really understand how you want it to look, how you will use it and what style you want to achieve. So much can be achieved with the choice of planters, their shape, colour and size as well as the landscaping and planting design. At the end of this stage we will have a CGI image of your design to work from.

With our knowledge of plants, the conditions in which they will thrive and seasonal availability, we'll help you choose the best planting design for your exterior spaces. Our plants are hardy and the best quality, sourced only from the best growers in the UK. From shaded window boxes, to exposed balconies, roof terraces and courtyards, we'll know just which plants will succeed for you and achieve the style of design you want. We'll ensure that all year round the exterior spaces of your home will be transformed by our planting designs.

We can work with any hard landscaping materials in laying out your design. For simpler designs, our planters are manufactured from frost and heat resistant, lightweight zintec steel in any shape, size or colour to suit your style. Living walls can be installed free standing or fixed depending on where they are sited. For window boxes and wall-mounted planters we can design bespoke safety railings, baskets and brackets. Where we have access to a water supply we can install water features and automatic irrigation systems, otherwise reservoir tanks can be placed within the planters.

When you are designing your exterior spaces, it's important that you remember you are creating a garden. The plants in containers will require water, light and feeding and seasonal attention. This may have an impact on what plants you use and how you design the space. If you have a busy schedule and won't have time to maintain your external space, we can make seasonal maintenance visits to help you refresh the planters and keep your home looking its best all year round.

What Our Clients Say

Philip took time to really understand the style and design I wanted to achieve. From his initial drawings to installing the final planting design he works with professionalism and charm, making the whole experience a pleasure.
The whole experience couldn’t have been easier. Philip immediately took on board my ideas and used his plant and design knowledge to transform a neglected terrace into a restful and colourful sanctuary!

Working with Philip on the roof terrace of our house in London was a joy. I valued his knowledge of plants and the service was above and beyond.
Philip is a creative thinker, full of ideas, but capable and practical too - getting involved from the creative stage right through to installation and planting.
ClareGreenwich Peninsula
Philip turned an otherwise tired and lifeless balcony into a riot of colour and interest. Now my apartment looks onto a garden view all year round.
Philip really took the time to understand what we wanted from the space and how we would spend our time there. He was involved in the process from start to finish with great results.

If you are looking for someone with high levels of professionalism, good knowledge of plants, a creative eye for style, colour and structure and who can turn your ideas into reality (but much, much better), then look no further!
It was quite a challenge to turn my exposed river facing balcony on the 17th floor into a sky garden. You did it. And I love it.

Philip Dundas

I’ve been gardening all of my life, since growing up on a farm in Scotland. My mother was a keen plantswoman, the garden was her life’s joy and I was her chief labourer and collaborator. I returned to gardening following a career at the BBC and in food and drink, both as a writer and restaurateur. In 2017 I started a small landscaping company in North London, specialising in planting design and garden restoration. Later we began to focus on helping clients create gardens on the edges and ledges of buildings. You can follow us on social media or read my articles here.
